about
My name is Jill Graham-Ellis and I’m a jeweller living in beautiful South Devon. I’ve always loved sparkly things so have been attracted to the art of jewellery design and making since I was young, and around 20 years ago I had the opportunity to attend an evening course learning the basics of making silver jewellery. I carried on learning from the amazing tutor for a number of years, but then life happened and I moved away. I’ve also undertaken courses with the Jeweller’s Academy and I’m a member of the Guild of Jewellery Designers. My jewellery making then got put on the backburner whilst I got married, had a beautiful son and moved our family down to the South Coast. Once we were all settled I started making again, albeit on a small scale from my garage!
After making jewellery for family and friends and being told how lovely it was I started Artura Jewellery in earnest in 2020 when I had the opportunity to rent a dedicated space for my workshop, at the glorious setting of Powderham Forge on the Powderham Estate, home to the Earl of Devon. Since then I can often be found at my work bench, hammer or file in hand, creating beautiful mini pieces of wearable art.
My work is very much influenced by the landscape around me, there is so much beauty in the glorious hills and coastline of Devon that often I’m spoiled for choice! I favour organic, softer lines and angles which create extremely tactile pieces which will be loved and worn for years to come.
